      <image:caption>Michael Feigelson has worked for Van Leer since 2007. Prior to his current role as CEO, he served as the Executive Director of the Bernard van Leer Foundation from 2014–2019. Before this he held several other positions including programme director, programme manager and programme officer. Before Van Leer, Michael spent most of his career serving grassroots and non-profit organisations in Latin America, Africa and Eastern Europe working with homeless and displaced children and families. Early in his career he also spent time as a business analyst at McKinsey &amp; Company. He has degrees from Wesleyan and Princeton Universities, was a Thomas J. Watson fellow and served as a member of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Behaviour. Michael enjoys writing (read some of his writing here), swimming and cycling. He is most proud of his role as a father to his daughter with whom he shares a love of music, books and chocolate.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Team members - Professor Shai Lavi - Shai Lavi is Director of the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute and professor of law at Tel Aviv University. He earned his first and second degrees in law and sociology at Tel Aviv University and a Ph.D. in law from the University of California, Berkeley. His research combines insight from sociology, legal theory, and philosophy to study bioethical issues from historical and contemporary perspectives. Specifically, he studies the use of technology at the beginning and end of life. After studying the cultural history of dying in the United States, regulation of beginning of life in Israel, and animal slaughter in Germany, he is currently engaged in a comparative research – in Germany, Turkey, and Israel –on issues related to legal regulation of the body and the tension between religion and secularity. His book on the end of life, The Modern Art of Dying: A History of Euthanasia in the United States, won the 2006 Sociology of Law Distinguished Scholarly Book Award of the American Sociological Association. Prof. Lavi has received a Fulbright Fellowship, the Zeltner Prize for young scholars in law, a grant to establish the Minerva Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of the End of Life, and a research grant from GIF, the German-Israeli Foundation for Scientific Research and Development, to study bioethics and society in Israel, Turkey, and Germany. He has been a visiting professor at Cornell University, the University of Toronto, Yeshiva University in New York, and Humboldt University of Berlin.</image:title>

He earned Bachelor of Arts degree at the Department of Communication and Journalism at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His prior work experience includes managing the Holon Cinematheque, twelve years in the position of Deputy CEO at one of Israel’s most significant film distribution companies, as well as previous experience at the Haifa Cinematheque and Jerusalem Film Festival. Starting 2022, Mahadav-Levin stepped in as the Executive Director of the JFC.</image:caption>

There she supported the business owners and managed a diverse team to ensure the smooth operation of the business, and high quality food, drinks and service for guests. This is where she learnt to speak Dutch, developed a passion for great coffee and learnt to pour the perfect cappuccino! Rebecca has a Bachelors in Architectural Studies and a Masters in City and Regional Planning, both from the University of Cape Town.. Originally from Durban, South Africa, Rebecca is now based in Rotterdam. She spends her free time upcycling furniture, cooking, reading and swimming.</image:title>

He is senior fellow of the World Resources Institute, a global research institute that focuses on critical issues at the intersection of environment and development. Nanno served on the Management Board of the Dutch Development Bank (FMO) for 21 years, first as CFO and from 2008 to 2016 as CEO. He started his career with FMO in 1987 as an investment officer at the SME department. Prior to joining FMO, Nanno gained experience in development finance in the private sector while working for nearly 10 years in Peru, Mexico and Nicaragua.</image:caption>

Uzodinma was the CEO, Editor-In-Chief, and co-Founder of Ventures Africa magazine, a publication that covers the evolving business, policy, culture, and innovation spaces in Africa.
